05/04/2004: "10.5 (should come with vomit warning label and air sickness bag)"

Did anyone see the made-for-TV movie 10.5 the other night? I only watched the beginning because the TIVO taped it and I figured I could watch it later. I'm attempting to watch it now but jesus god have mercy! I want to find the director John Lafia and slap him until he’s unconscious. This is the WORST camera work I think I've ever seen.

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret John boy, constantly zooming in and out on every single person in every single shot does not give the movie a raw, edgy, documentary look, It's amateurish and makes your audience feel physically nauseous. It's an insult to documentarians because even they do not zoom in and out and fling the camera all around a fraction that this "movie" does. It's called a TRI-POD...USE IT!

Let alone the fact there’s some REALLY bad writing in the script (oh yah, did I mention that Mr. Lafia has a writing credit for this one too? Shame on you!)

Doctor 1 to rebel Dr. 2: Every time you come into assist me it’s the cowboy thing. It’s the one man Zack show. One day you’re going to screw up and cost somebody their life!” Can we say Top Gun boys and girls? Yes, some of your audience was alive in the 80s.

Ahhh, I’m only 15 minutes in and I don’t know if I can stomach any more of this. I mean, I’m torn because I REALLY REALLY love disaster flicks. Watching the 1974 movie Earthquake was a life altering experience for me. What a shame that 30 years later with all the technology now available for kick ass special affects and they can only produce this piss poor excuse for a movie. Fuck it, I'm going to read tonight.

I need a new mantra:
"Just because I TIVO something does NOT mean that I have to watch it".
"Just because I TIVO something does NOT mean that I have to watch it".
"Just because I TIVO something does NOT mean that I have to watch it".
