08/27/2004: "Shaun of the Dead"

technorati tags: excited

I can't wait to see this film, they're finally releasing it in the states next month, not sure how long it will take to reach me in the boonies. We have some zombie buffs at our local theater after all so probably not too long.

If you're interested you can see the movie's trailer here .

Normally I don't like to watch trailers because I don't want to see all the best bits, but I made an exception in this case. It looks hilarious (despite voiceover man)!

Anyone out there already get to see it?

By the way Dio, with that "email me when this site's been updated" service, do you get emailed when ever someone *edits* and entry or just when they *add* a new one? I hadn't thought of that but I edit my entires obsessively because I have bad spelling and tend to type too fast and sloppy. Anyway, if that's what happens maybe I'll edit in word first and just add once (like in carpentry, measure twice, cut once!).

I'm going to set up an RSS feed this weekend. My friend Arlo showed me how to do it for Greymatter (which powers this blog) and a guy wrote a work around where the blog author can decide when to release the updates so it doesn't happen automatically everytime you make a new entry *or* edit, which is what the default code causes to happen.

Anyway, my appologies to anyone who I've been flooding with minute edits.

Ooooh, an RSS feed, nice, that'll be going on me bloglines reader. :)

My email thing checks the page every couple of hours, so if you post then repost between checks it doesn't pick it up. However, if you post, then it checks, then you change, it does send the new version - but if I see that I normally just delete anyhow 'cos the rough version is fine by me... :)

I watched Shaun of the Dead for the first time this Monday. It was excellent fun. Look out for lots of audio lifts and idea lifts from all your favourite Zombie films, not to mention some digs at contemporary ZOmbie flicks like other fave of mine and yours, 28 Days Later.

I do wonder though how some of the humour will travel, as it is very British and specific. It was a top marks film for me - I was expecting it to be hyped but it was as good as I imagined. :)

I think the humor will travel well; there is a huge fan base in the states for British programming, especially comedies...so a lot of people here are already aware of idioms and to some degree info about political and tv celebrities from the UK etc.

I'm sure some of it will go over our heads but I think all those references to previous and contemporary zombie flix, as well as site gags etc. will make it a big hit here as well. Anyway, that's my take. It will depend too if there is a large release here and if it gets proper advertisement.

I'm really looking forward to it!

If it doesn't get a cinema release, its out in the UK on DVD in the next week or two. :)

If you enjoyed The Office, this is in the same vein, but with Zombies... Obviously. :)

Come to think of it, Gareth looked a little like a zombie to start with!
