04/12/2005: "A Taxing Woman"

Friday's the big day, tax day. I know I'm going to owe money this year and I haven't even started my damn taxes yet. I took off Monday from work so I could do them and instead I played around with Flash all afternoon. Now I have 2 days to do 2 (that's right TWO) years worth of taxes, both personal and business. I should have just hired someone. I thought it was ok to put them off last year because I knew I was getting a refund and the IRS doesn't really care if they owe *you* money. But if you owe *them* money, that's altogether different.

Anyway, I suppose outside of work that's what I'll be doing full stop for the next couple of days. I'm just hoping that with the refund I'm due from last year, and what I'll owe for sure this year...I might break even.

By the way, if you haven't seen the Japanese movie "a Taxing Woman" you really should. It's hilarious, about how in Japan it's an accepted game of cat and mouse between the auditors and tax evaders. Good stuff this time of year.
