12/17/2005: "What happens in Nebraska stays in Nebraska"

Yes, i removed some of what I posted earlier cuz I'm going to focus on being more positive in the coming year...starting right now! (yah right!)

I'm beginning to think I mis-calculated my packing. Contents of my suitcase for a 2 week vacation:

Six oil brushes
8 gessoed panels
Transparent Red Iorn Oxide
Quinacridone Violet
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Phthalocyanne Blue
Sap Green
Turquoise
Zinc White
Bottle of walnut oil
bottle of walnut oil alkyd
1 large paper painting pallet
folding tabletop easle
2 pairs pants
4 pairs (of socks and undies each)
2 shirts
toothbrush and toothpaste

I've set up a little mini-studio and I've already sketched out some compositions, though it's amazing how much I rely on PhotoShop, I'm only noticing it now that I don't have access to it (I actually have to *draw*, as in, with a pencil!

It's a bummer though that I forgot my digital camera because I won't be able to post any works-in-progress until next year...anything I paint in Nebraska stays in Nebraska too, primarily because I didn't bring any Liquin with me and there's no way anything I start now will dry enough for me to pack before I leave.

Also a bummer is that Nebraska's college women's volleyball team that has been rated #1 all year just lost 3 straight games to lose the national championship to the University of Washington.

Glad you got there safely!! Aren't parents wonderful! I really envy your minimalist approach to packing. I'm going away for new year and will probably have about two suitcases

He (may have) just been trying to be funny, who knows?

But anyway, I always pack light. The way I see it, if I *really* need something, it's going to be a heck of a lot cheaper to buy in Nebraska than in Alaska.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation for new year, where are you going?

We always go north for new year - on the banks of Loch Ness. It's always beautiful, I'm hoping for some snow but not so much as to ruin the party I'm trying to organise. :hehe:

Bummer about the NU VB Girls team. They swept every team in the tournament and then get swept 3 by the Huskies.

Can't wait to see you next weekend Elise.

Hey RR, I stayed at this very interesting hostel on the Loch Ness, (remember Subi?) and they had lots of guest books filled with stories and drawings of how they saw Nessie, and there was a Loch Ness Monster museum in the town, I still have a pennie I put through one of those machines where they schmooch it thin. Anyway, it sounds like a lot of fun, don't party too hard!
:P

Yes TT, big bummer about the NU VB girls team. Dad and I watched the game, boo hoo. Oh well, the Huskies are going to be happy, there always has to be a winner and a loser.

And Subi, I'll see if anyone has a digi cam, probably someone will. I haven't done any actual painting yet though. Dad and I went to Norfolk today and took in two movies "The Family Stone" (luke wilson is yummy) and King Kong (great special effects but a little too long)...still, we had a blast!
