10/10/2006: "A Heidi Ho Halloween"
I love the holidays. This time of year we're lined up for Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa, and finally New Years Eve. I love decorating and baking and having little get-togethers with people.
I haven't purchased my tickets to Nebraska for (in my family) Christmas yet. I keep checking air fare for a better deal but right now the prices are so high. I think I waited too long, thinking I was going to be flying out of Seatac this year. Now I'm only finding horrible connections for over a thousand dollars.
I am getting ready for Halloween though. I have stuff to decorate the outside of my house and I love carving pumpkins. I won't be doing political pumpkins this year as they tend to get stolen...but I still want to do some. I love answering the door and handing out candy to all the neighborhood kids! I might have to miss that this year because I'm going to be face-painting for a kids' halloween party, but I'll leave some on the porch.
Below is the costume I bought for a Halloween party this year that falls the Sat. before the actual event (which is a Tuesday):
Don't worry, I won't be wearing it to work (or to the kids' party), for that I have an innocent little ladybug outfit.
The Heidi Ho costume is for a big party Maren invited me to. I feel a little strange because I don't know the people throwing the party, nor will I probably know any of the people attending it...but hey, it's a *costume* party! It's the one time of the year where you can be somebody else. Plus, Maren said last year there was dancing and a margarita machine...how can I go wrong!
