11/08/2006: "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

Well, I skipped my life drawing session last night.
:(
I got all ready but just didn’t quite make it out the door. It was so warm and cozy in my house that I wanted to just curl up on the couch with a mug of cocoa and a book instead.

This morning I woke up to snow falling outside my bedroom window; I love that, it’s has such a calming effect on me. I really should be out taking photos. I'd also like to go cross country skiing tonight after work. Being outside in the snow makes me feel like I’m 10 years old again!

Another reason why I'm doing the Snoopy Dance this morning, is because of the results of the mid-term elections here in the US yesterday. The Republicans got their asses handed to them. And Rumsfeld is out! Finally an election that doesn’t make me want to tear my own eyes out. Of course, here in Alaska Sarah Palin won the governor’s race…she believes in abstinence only sex ed in the schools and is against equal rights for gay people and will probably try to move the capitol out of Juneau, destroying our local economy and causing our property values to plummet…but hey, you can’t win them all.

Yay for snow! post some pictures before it gets all dirty please. :)
I'm happy in AZ because the propositions I voted for passed. Raised the min. wage and no more smoking in bars! If California can do it so can the rest of us! (stepping down from soapbox...) :P

Hi Rod,
The snow here doesn't get all dirty like it does in Anchorage. For one thing, it ususally doesn't fall and then stay all winter. It falls, looks beautiful for a few days, then it melts away. Then new snow falls etc. I like it.

And congrats that your props passed!

And Kasia, I will try and post some photos tomorrow. We're supposed to get as much as nine inches today!

I'm teaching you again in my Feminist module tomorrow-- just in case you get a tingly feeling. ;)

Hey Holly, Thanks, I could really use a tingly feeling!

If your students have anything positive to say I'd love to hear it, if it's negative though...you can just keep it to yourself...or LIE (I've no problem with that)! I have a very fragile ego.

I miss the snow. Very jealous right now. Here, it was 80 degrees yesterday.

Hey Daniel, I am jealous of all of your sun...but I could never live somewhere never snows. It's one of my favorite things in the world.

Tom Toles had a great cartton a week or tow ago. It had Lucy (labeled "VOTER") holding a football for a Donkey dressed like Charlie Brown (i.e. the democrats) to kick it. Lucy is saying "I have you ahead in the polls by substantial margins." Yesterday he did one with the ball flying through a goal post a very long way away. Both of them srae saying "What the..."

They 100% depict how I felt, and now feel...about the election.

I am still pinching myself!

Shes a woman so thats progress. She was the mayor of Wasilla (where I live) so most folks couldn't be happier. As her first order of business she gave back the longevity bonus back to the seniors that Murkowski gave away.
When my friend called that moved away from Alaska I told her Sarah Palin was the Govenor of the State of Alaska there was silence on the other end of the phone. Now she is a real talker so I found it halarious that she was speechless. I'm glad the Democrats have a some power again perhaps we will get stem cell research and a government that cares about the people. Now we need a woman president! Then things will really start to change quickly.

I would be suprised if they really managed to move the state capitol over here.
Hope not anyway.

Yooh Hoo! Elise? Anybody home? You buried in snow? Hope everything's okay.... :(

on Wednesday, November 15th, Elise said

Hey Judy, I forgot that she's from your neck of the woods. I still have *serious* reservations about her, woman or not. She's too socially conservative for me...and the idea of the capital moving sends everyone here into high speed panic mode. but I guess we'll see...
;)

And Jackie! Hi, I'm sorry I haven't been posting much lately. A lot of heavy emotional stuff going on but I think I'm on my way up and out from under it.

I'm getting ready to gear up and do some heavy duty painting...
any day now...
