09/23/2004: "I'd rather be watching trashy TV on the WB!"
Well, I'm back to Anchorage again, this time on business. I'm the volunteer web developer for the Alaska Library Association and I just finished single handedly redesigning them a new site. It hasn't launched yet, we'll be clearing some web related issues this weekend and then hopefully it will be all ready to go. I am very proud of this latest site design because the code is very clean. The XHTML validates with the W3C, as well as the CSS, and nearly every file in the site is also 508 compliant. It has not been easy but I think it is a lean and mean site that will be very easy to maintain.
I've also been working my buns off designing fund raising mailers for various events throughout the state to support Tony Knowles run for US Senate. I've had all kinds of problems because I'm not really a graphic artist and I'm trying to do all my layout in PhotoShop and the other designer works in Corel and I'm trying to emulate her layouts for tri-folds...just trust me, it has been a hugely time consuming pain. I think I'll break down and buy some actual graphic design software and one of those drawing pads. I think I'll check and see how expensive Corel is. Any graphic artists out there who'd like to chime in?
I haven't gotten back a hold of the KTOO guy about the group show either, and I have to get some CD-ROMs finished and in the mail to my distance students by tomorrow (one of my students this semester is a soldier in Iraq and another is in Brazil!).
I hate feeling like I can never get ahead...like there is always a looming deadline and as much as I work my ass off I'll always be a half hour away from disaster.
