12/17/2004: "Stop me oh stop me, stop me if you think that you've heard this one before."
Have you ever sent a long letter to someone but then they call you before they get the letter? You end up having to cover all the same news, stories, annecdotes, etc. even though they're going to get your letter in a couple days and hear the same exact stuff all over again.
Well anyway, something along those lines has been happening to me with this blog. The thing is, I don't really know which of my friends and family (if any) actually read this thing, or if they do...how often.
So I'll be having a conversation with someone I haven't spoken with in awhile and I'll, you know, hit em with my best stuff...and not get much of a reaction. Then later in the conversation they'll let something slip that leads me to believe they've been reading my entries here. That makes me think that the reason they didn't react much to my news was because they had already heard about it here, which makes me feel weird. I wish people would just tell me up front "hey, I've been reading your blog, I already heard this story (observation, theory, etc.).
I mean, no one wants to feel like they're repeating themselves.
On a different note, I'm leaving on Sunday morning for O'Neill Nebraska to spend the holiday with my family. My dad, all four of my sisters and their husbands and children (10 nieces and nephews already) will be home again this year, as well as my grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. plus I'll get to go out on the town with old friends from high school. I'm really looking forward to it, not to mention 2 1/2 weeks off from work. YEAH!
