07/04/2005: "Happy 4th of July!!!"
Well, my friends are leaving in the morning and I'm a little sad because it has been so much fun having them here. It's always exciting to see your town through an outsiders eyes. They were very impressed with Juneau and Douglas, even though it was rainy and overcast the entire time. Tonight I had a couple people over for the 4th of July fireworks. We walked down to the beach and crashed some peoples enormous bon fire in order to watch the city's fireworks display. A barge goes out into the channel and sets off fireworks at midnight.
Later a "party bus" picked my friend Anne Marie and I up and asked us where we were going and we said "Louis", the local bar one block away and they all laughed...it was good fun. Douglas is incredibly fun during the 4th of July. Tomorrow morning I'm marching in the parade with the University's float which is a huge fluke (whales tale) which is our logo. The theme of the parade is "freedom of speech" so were wearing t-shirts with UAS on the front and banned books on the back and we're handing out diplomas with candy wrapped inside.
OK, I have to admit I'm a little drunk right now. I had a combination of hard cider, Cosmopolitans, and shot of "Maker's Mark" whiskey. I've forgotten how much I love getting drunk. I seriously do not do it enough.
:O :P ;)   :doze:
